Luiz Gustavo Ribeiro Pereira assumes his position as Associate Professor
Luiz Gustavo Ribeiro Pereira assumes his position as Associate Professor with responsibilities within Herd Management and Precision Livestock Farming in the Section for Production, Nutrition, and Health at Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (IVH).
Professor Luiz Gustavo was born in 1975, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He earned his Veterinary bachelor’s (1999) and PhD in Animal Science (2003) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He held a professor position at the State University of Santa Cruz-UESC and at the Federal University of Sergipe. In 2006, he moved to the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation-Embrapa, one of the most important research institutes in the world that provides solutions for tropical agriculture. He did his sabbatical as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2020-2023.
Luiz Gustavo comes from a position as a Senior Scientist at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, Embrapa.
He has been working in close collaboration with researchers around the world on the development of cutting-edge modeling approaches for high-throughput phenotyping and precision technologies focused on sustainability and regenerative systems. His research priorities include the development of predictive models using images, sensors, or laboratory-based instrument data to improve the financial, social, and environmental performance of the livestock industry.
